The image: This painting reminds me of Spring with pink flowers blooming, roots extending to the bottom and dotted raindrops that create a huge rainbow right in the middle. It’s light and fun and full of rich and vibrant color.
I have to admit I get pretty excited when I see the first crocuses coming up or when the daffodils start to bloom. It makes me smile, really big, like I’m meeting old friends. Although with all the hope and excited anticipation I feel in Spring, the season is also a reminder of what didn’t make it through the winter. It’s a reminder of what won’t go forward, the things we’ve lost, and the things we leave behind.
Spring is the season for connecting with the earth and grounding ourselves, giving us a stable place to build our hopes for the future. Spring is about blooming while being aware of our roots, where we come from and where we’ve been. It’s also about living now, in the diversity and aliveness of a vibrant and colorful rainbow.
